Everything you need to know before your first wedding dress appointment in Singapore—from what to wear and who to bring, to what happens during your 90 minutes with us.
Your first bridal gown appointment should help you understand what feels right—not leave you feeling as though you should already know every wedding dress term before arriving.
You may come with a carefully organised inspiration board, one gown saved on your phone or no clear idea where to begin. All three are completely workable. The purpose of your appointment is to explore silhouettes, fabrics and details on your own body, with a designer there to guide you.

Your shortlist does not need to be perfectly coordinated. A varied selection can help your designer identify the details you consistently respond to—whether that is a clean skirt, floral lace, a low back or a particular neckline.
Think about the day surrounding the dress

- Stairs, grass, a long aisle or other practical considerations
- How much time you will spend walking, sitting and mingling
- Whether the gown is for your pre-wedding shoot, ROM or actual day
- Whether you want one look or several outfit changes
Your designer can make more relevant suggestions when they understand your wedding plans.
What to Wear
Keep It Simple
WeddingCrafters gowns come with built-in padding, so there is no need for a specific bra. Nude undergarments are all we recommend for the first appointment.
You may also bring an elastic hair tie if you would like to see the gowns with your hair up. You do not need to bring shoes yet; your exact wedding shoes become important during later alteration fittings.
Who to Bring
Choose Your Company Thoughtfully
You are welcome to bring up to five guests. Bring people whose opinions help you feel clearer—not people who make you second-guess how you feel in every dress.
A smaller group can make it easier to hear your own instincts. You are equally welcome to attend alone; your designer will offer practical guidance throughout.

What Happens During Your 90 Minutes?
Your appointment follows a thoughtful progression, but it is never a test. You are here to explore, compare and discover what feels most like you.
Meet your designer
Your assigned designer begins by learning about your date, venue, programme, preferred styles and saved gowns.
Discuss your priorities
Share what matters to you: support, movement, coverage, a dramatic train, a lightweight feel or a feature you want to highlight.
Build the first edit
Your shortlist is the starting point. Your designer may also suggest shapes you had not considered based on construction and fit.
Try different silhouettes
Comparing a focused mix of A-line, fitted, minimalist and embellished designs reveals which elements consistently feel right.
Test movement
Walk, turn and sit where possible. Notice the gown’s weight, the security of its neckline and how naturally you can move.
Photograph favourites
Photos and videos are encouraged. Capture the front, back and movement of each favourite so you can compare them fairly later.
Explore next steps
Your designer can demonstrate veils and detachable elements, discuss additional looks and explain the relevant rental or package options.
Fit and Perspective
What If the Sample Does Not Fit Perfectly?
A try-on gown is a starting point, not the finished fit. Depending on the sample and your measurements, your designer may make temporary adjustments so you can visualise the intended silhouette.
Focus on the shape, neckline, proportions, fabric and how you feel in it. If you like a design, your designer can explain what adjustments are possible within its construction.
The sample does not need to fit perfectly for you to recognise the silhouette, detail or feeling you want to carry into your wedding day.
Finding Clarity
How to Compare the Gowns You Try
Instead of asking only “Which dress looks best?”, compare every favourite using the same practical questions.
A video of yourself walking can reveal details a still photograph cannot, including the movement of the skirt and how often you instinctively adjust the neckline.
Later in the Journey
Your First Appointment Is Not Your Alteration Fitting
Your first appointment is for exploring and selecting gowns. Alteration fittings happen later, after your gown and event date are confirmed.
For those fittings, bring the exact wedding shoes, lingerie or cups, and shapewear you intend to use. Even a small difference in heel height or undergarment structure can change how the gown falls.
For rental gowns, length adjustments are hemmed rather than permanently cut, preserving the gown’s integrity.
